Accessibility Statement

Last updated: June 2026

Our commitment

Tefluent is committed to making our platform accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA across all pages and features.

We believe that people learning French for Canadian permanent residency should not face unnecessary barriers, regardless of how they access the web.

What we are doing

  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) are reachable and operable via keyboard alone.
  • Colour contrast: We target a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and UI components, in line with WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
  • Semantic HTML: We use appropriate heading levels, landmark regions, and ARIA attributes to support screen readers.
  • Focus management:Focus states are visible on all interactive elements. We do not suppress the browser's default focus ring without providing an equivalent visual indicator.
  • Audio content: Listening exercises include transcripts so the content is accessible to users who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Responsive design: The platform is usable at a range of viewport sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Known limitations

We are still building Tefluent, and some areas may not yet fully meet our accessibility targets. In particular, certain mock-exam interaction patterns and audio players are under active improvement. We are committed to resolving these as development continues.

Technical approach

Tefluent is built with Next.js (React) and follows accessibility best practices at the component level. We test with keyboard-only navigation and use automated tooling to catch common issues during development. We perform periodic manual reviews using screen readers (VoiceOver on macOS and NVDA on Windows).

Report an issue

If you encounter a barrier on Tefluent, we want to know. Please email us at hello@tefluent.com with the subject line “Accessibility issue” and a description of the problem, including the page URL and the assistive technology you were using (if any). We aim to respond within 5 business days and to prioritise fixes based on impact.

Standards reference

Our target standard is WCAG 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). You can read the full guidelines at w3.org/WAI/WCAG21/quickref.
